Meet Brooke Garren, LCSW - Practice Owner and Advocate

Brooke (she/her) Licensed Clinical Social Worker but also proudly identifies as autistic, with ADHD and dyslexia. These personal experiences deeply inform her understanding and empathy, shaping a practice that’s genuinely aligned with the needs of the neurodivergent community.

Practice Philosophy & Therapeutic Style

Utilizing a person-centered, strength-based approach, Brooke utilizes an integrative model of care that contrasts sharply with “traditional” neurodivergent therapies found in educational and therapeutic settings. She blends various theoretical models to tailor interventions that meet each client’s specific needs, emphasizing the importance of affirming care that acknowledges the complexity and uniqueness of each individual. Brooke’s journey through her own neurodivergent and learning challenges has been instrumental in crafting her approach to therapy. These experiences are the bedrock of her ability to relate authentically to the challenges faced by her clients and their families. This personal connection fuels her passion for fostering an environment where individuals feel truly seen, heard, and supported.

As a therapist, Brooke combines warmth and directness, fostering a treatment process that is both nurturing and goal-oriented. She offers a secure space for clients to explore their vulnerabilities while working collaboratively towards lasting change and self-acceptance.

A Commitment to Empathetic, Affirming Care

At Uniquely You Behavioral Health, the ethos of neurodivergence affirmation is not just a professional mandate but a personal one. Brooke’s lived experience as an autistic, ADHD, and dyslexic individual enriches her clinical practice, allowing her to empathize deeply with her clients. This insight is crucial not only in her direct work with clients but also in her role as a mentor to other clinicians at the practice, ensuring that the care provided is deeply empathetic, inclusive, and effective.

Educational Background and Expertise

Brooke holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Her extensive training encompasses neurodivergent therapy, crisis intervention, substance use counseling, behavioral therapy, and trauma. She is continually enhancing her skills, with advanced certification in DIR/Floortime and actively training in Autplay Therapy.
