Alex (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker focused on assisting children, and adolescents in understanding and navigating their environments. Alex is committed to the belief that everyone possesses innate potential for growth. Her therapeutic approach is centered on helping clients harness their inner strength and resilience.
Practice Philosophy & Therapeutic Style
Alex adopts a client-centered perspective in her practice, ensuring that therapy is tailored to the unique needs, goals, and preferences of each person. She believes there is no “one size fits all” solution and emphasizes the importance of creating a supportive and compassionate environment. This approach allows her clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors at their own pace and in their preferred way, fostering personal development and understanding.
A Commitment to Empathetic, Affirming Care
Through her experience and ongoing education, Alex embodies a deep commitment to providing empathetic and affirming care. Her background in school settings enhances her ability to support families in managing educational challenges, including navigating the special education system and understanding Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Educational Background and Expertise
Alex earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Illinois State University and her Master’s degree in Social Work with a specialization in Schools from Aurora University. Her professional journey includes significant roles in educational settings, where she has supported children and adolescents with behavioral issues and collaborated with families and other professionals to offer comprehensive care. Alex has earned advanced unrestricted certification in DIR/Floortime model.
Work with Alex
As a Clinical Supervisor at Uniquely You Behavioral Health, Alex plays a pivotal role in both direct client work and overseeing the clinical practices of other therapists. Although she is currently not accepting new clients due to full capacity, she maintains a waitlist specifically for after-school hours to accommodate families and students. For clients who are able to engage in therapy during day-time hours Alex is able to more quickly pull these clients from the waitlist. Her dual role ensures that her depth of knowledge and compassionate approach benefit both the clients she directly engages with and those under the guidance of her supervisees.
The Personal:
What do your weekends look like?
Most weekends I can be found spending quality time with family or friends. I also enjoy walking my dog and reading a good book.
If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Mac and cheese. I never stopped loving pasta or cheese and when they are combined the result is always delicious!
What’s your favorite holiday?
Halloween! I love going to haunted houses and seeing all the creative costumes. The candy is, of course, a huge plus.
